Abandoning Our Script

When we started filming our trailer, we started off by filming the first scene because we were using a room at college so it made sense to start with this scene as we were already at college and we thought it'd be the easiest scene to film. However, once we had filmed a few attempts, watching them back we realised that it sounded too scripted. We think the 'survivor' should seem disturbed by the thought of the 'abandoned house' and when we were filming by script, no matter how hard I tried (me, being the survivor), I didn't seem disturbed or hysterical by the thought of this 'camping trip'. Because of this, we decided to abandon our original script.
Now in the first scene, the 'survivor' will still be talking about the trip but I will just make it up as I go along because that makes it sound more real. I will still be talking about the camping trip in the context but just in a different structure because we want our trailer to seem realistic and by doing this, we think it will seem more so.
